SDGs - The Sustainable Development Goals.

As per UNDP the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to End Poverty, Protect the Planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy Peace and Prosperity. 

The action plan is built on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) – to eradicate extreme poverty rates to stopping the spread of HIV/AIDS and providing universal primary education to all underprivileged, form a blueprint agreed to by most of the world leaders and all the world’s leading development institutions.

The 17 SDGs are integrated—they recognize that action in one area will affect outcomes in others, and that development must balance social, economic and environmental sustainability.

Countries have committed to prioritize progress for those who’re furthest behind. The SDGs are designed to end poverty, hunger, AIDS, and discrimination against women and girls.

The creativity, know-how, technology and financial resources from all of society is necessary to achieve the SDGs in every context.

2030 Agenda

A strategic plan of action for People, Planet & Prosperity. The 17 SDGs and its 169 associated targets will stimulate actions over the next 7 years. To resolve all kinds of critical problems faced by every human being and our planet, the agenda is determined to take transformative steps which are urgently required to reach the desired goals.

A pledge that no one will be left behind, with common actions and endeavour across broad and universal agenda that can lead to win-win situation for all.

The 5 Ps of SDGs

People – End Poverty, Hunger and to ensure all human beings are given equal opportunity in a healthy environment.

Planet – Protect from degradation, managing natural resources and taking urgent actions on climate changes.

Prosperity – Lead prosperous, fulfilling lives, in harmony with nature, and on the path towards economic, social, and technological progress.

Peace – Creating a world free of fear and violence where all citizens can live in peace, justice, and inclusion.

Partnership –   Create Global partnership with all Countries, Stakeholders and People to join hands and participate in solving problems.

The 17 Goals of SDGs

The 17 SDGs are interlinked goals to transform our world. It’s like a blueprint to tackle the worldly problems and simultaneously achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. Now it’s been 8th year since  adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals.

World population has reached 8 billion people on November 15, 2022. According to the United Nations, more than half of all people live in just 7 countries, so is the Poverty, Hunger, Inequality and Climate Change are just some of the issues we need to address urgently. It has made huge progress, but there is continuous work toward it, and the Goals are more important than ever, from Climate Crisis to ensuring no one goes hungry before sleep.

These are huge challenges and calls for a bold way to handle and overcome them, and that is where the Global Goals come into action. They are a plan agreed by all world leaders to build a greener, fairer, better world by 2030, and we all have a role in achieving them.

2015 THE WORLD LEADERS AGREED TO 17 GLOBAL GOALS TO TRANSFORM OUR WORLD

GOAL 1: No Poverty in all forms everywhere.

GOAL 2: Zero Hunger, achieve food security and improves nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture. 

GOAL 3: Healthy lives and promote well being.

GOAL 4: Equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities

GOAL 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls

GOAL 6: Availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all

GOAL 7: Access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy

GOAL 8: Promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work

GOAL 9: Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation

GOAL 10: Reduced Inequality within and among countries

GOAL 11: Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.

GOAL 12: sustainable consumption and production patterns.

GOAL 13: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impact.

GOAL 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.

GOAL 15: Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and  halt biodiversity loss

GOAL 16: Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions

GOAL 17: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development.
